To keep biologists from wandering around, picking up stray samples at stray locations at stray times, and annoying the family dog. I mean, physics doesn't really threaten our self esteem, but biology, properly applied, does. And doesn't it get annoying when Myers shows off his latest acquisition from the "Evil Cephalopod dark Lord of the Month Club" around the neighborhood? (Heard he has enough points saved up to have Cthulhu flown in for a play date.) What we need are biologist fences.
